Free Community Picnic at Wallingford Playfield Saturday

Margaret Margaret July 22, 2011 2 Comments

Reader Joan spotted this flyer today for a “FREE Community Picnic” at the Wallingford Playfield, and wondered what it was all about, so we just walked the doggies over to the park tonight and this is what we found:

It’s a FREE Community Picnic tomorrow (Saturday, July 23) at 12:30pm at the Wallingford Playfield, hosted by the Vine Christian Ministries.

WHY, pray tell, is the sponsor providing a free picnic for Wallingfordites? Is it because our neighborhood is burdened with needy folk? Was this notice posted where the patrons of Solid Ground could see it?

The sponsor, Vine Christian Ministries, is located in Wallingford, which I assume is why they had their picnic at Wallingford park. They are also hosting a free BBQ every Wednesday at 6 or 6:30 outside their church. I think they are trying to be good neighbors and get to know people in the neighborhood. They hosted our neighborhood block party last year. Their singing wafts in my living room windows on Sunday mornings and it sounds pretty.
