The Publican opens next month

Margaret Margaret November 2, 2011 15 Comments

Geoff Kaiser over at Seattle Beer News tells us that The Publican will open in mid- to late December in the former Bandolero spot (2253 N. 56th St.), which was sold to the guys behind Brouwer’s Cafe and Bottleworks last month.

According to Seattle Beer News, The Publican will have 22 taps along with a selection of bottled beer and a full bar for cocktails. They’ll open at 10am daily and will serve breakfast (all day), lunch, and dinner.

Matt Bonney (who runs Brouwer’s Cafe) told Seattle Beer News:

At The Publican, you can expect the same consideration and quality for beer and all distillates as you do at Brouwer’s. The beer selection won’t have as much of a Belgian flavor as Brouwer’s, but we’ll have a strong focus on American micros.

Just what we need, another pub on 56th… Ugh.

Another pub in Tangletown. Awesome. Brouwer’s is a great spot. Can’t wait to see what Publican is like. Welcome to the hood.

Great news. Can I request 1 menu item from Brouwer’s to make its appearance on Publican’s menu, or at least see it as a daily special some time? Carbonnade, please!

Wow. Christmas is coming early to our neck of the woods. So excited! Here’s hoping they can accommodate the many families in the neighborhood. And serve better food than Tangletown, which isn’t really setting the bar very high.

Neat. Great addition to Tangletown. I would like to see an 8 foot by 8 foot floor space for dancing. Seattle seems uptight about that, but in some countries it is common.

Ditto on the comment about accommodating families and serving good food! We live in Tangletown and only went to Bandolero once because it didn’t seem very family friendly. We go out frequently for dinner and would love to see you succeed!

Excited to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood, I agree with previous posts and hope they can cater to the families in the area. I like the large beer selection but probably won’t get there as often if they don’t have anything for the fam.

Don’t think they will have a dance floor. You actually need a special permit to have one (not just space to do it). Not sure why the city does such things, I guess it becomes a “dance club” at that point and gets treated differently.

Count me as one who wants this to be similar to Brouwer’s/Noble Fir – a place for people to relax and hoist a few quality beers with decent food, children excluded. I’m really excited for this.

Ditto the disappointment that Elysian’s been as far as food goes, doubly so since their original location is great.

I also third the comment about noble fir-esque atmosphere where you can chill in puffy seats with pals. Think warm atmosphere, tasteful bites and a few new things currently not present in a venue such as this. Good luck!

I can tell you there will be no kids and no dancing. You’ll have to find that elsewhere.

    I hope it’s cat-friendly.
