Geraldine Lee, Wallingford resident and owner of Fremont Midwifery, wrote to let us know that she’s moved her midwifery practice to Wallingford:

We’re around the corner from the Joule/Fainting Goat/Sock Monster complex at 4428 Burke Avenue North. We are extremely happy to join the neighborhood, and plan to offer the community the following:

Walk-in baby weight check/moms meetup on Mondays – open to the community (we don’t have to be the delivering providers). Vaccination workshops Birth preparation workshops. If you were in the neighborhood around noontime, you probably heard a few helicopters circling around eastern Wallingford. Reader Richard was kind enough to send us this picture:

Turns out, there was an armed robbery today at the Wells Fargo at the 4100 block of University Avenue in the U-District, which was confirmed by our neighborhood police contact, Terrie Johnston. A UW alert on Twitter described the suspect as a white male, in his 40s, 6 feet tall with a medium build and glasses, and they warned folks to stay clear of the area. Fuerte Fitness, a gem of a gym

Wallyhood welcomes back Fuerte Fitness as a sponsor, located at 1225 N. 45th Street, just west of Stone Way N. Fuerte Fitness specializes in personal training, and they also offer classes like Zumba and bellydancing, as well as nutritional guidance and community outreach.

All month long in December, Fuerte Fitness will be celebrating its anniversary, with specials on nutrition packets, plus pictures with Santa are open for the public on Dec. 1 from 6pm to 7pm (please reserve your spot). Locavores take note! Wallingford neighbor Rina Nicholson announces this year’s homemade Middle-Eastern-style olive sale just in time for your holiday shopping. While the olives themselves are shipped up (fresh) from California, the curing happens right here in Wallingford. Some ingredients, such as garlic and chile peppers used to cure the olives, are grown in Rina’s Wallingford yard. Grape leaves are come from a neighbor’s garden as well.

Yogurtland Now Open

Back in September, we told you that Yogurtland was coming to occupy the old Quiznos space on N. 45th at Sunnyside Avenue N. (2320 N. 45th St.) By the looks of it, that day has arrived. Yogurtland is open for a half day today but tomorrow (Wednesday, November 30) they’ll be open during their regular hours (11:00am – 11:00pm) Need a reason to check them out? Here’s a few.
