USPS Blue Mailbox Locations in Wallingford

Margaret Margaret December 19, 2012 10 Comments

Becky asks:

Has anyone mapped the locations of the US mailboxes in the neighborhood? I walk around a lot and sometimes want to post a letter without going all the way to the post office. I know there is one by the old Tully’s but it would be nice to know where the others are.

So we did a search on the internets and, lo and behold, there is a “Mailbox Map Mashup”, showing all of the blue mailbox locations by zip. Here’s a map of the locations in Wallingford:

Or you could just use the USPS website: https://tools.usps.com/go/POLocatorAction_input and search for Location Type Collection Boxes…

    Yeah, there’s that, too.

This is great. I’ve been wanting an app for this, but never actually checked to see if there already was something out there. Can this post be moved to “Resources” so I can find it again later, when I’ve forgotten this again?

    Margaret,
Thank you for the informative and helpful news. Much preferred over clicking to impersonal agency website. Plain and simple.

Thanks, Peter! And Meganc, I’ll put it under resources. Thanks for the reminder!

There is also a mailbox at 1st NE and 50th by the 50th Street Market that doesn’t appear on the map.

What about the ‘105? We’ve got boxes too.

Wow, thanks! This is so helpful. I did try the USPS website but did not use the correct jargon, and came up dry. Wallingfordians are so resourceful……

Oddly enough, Doug, a search on 98105 only shows two blue boxes to the west of I-5: one on NE 45th at 4th and the other on Latona at NE 53rd. I’ll add them to the list.
