Gold Fever: History of the Stampede to the Klondike

In 1896, in a small stream in the remote Klondike wilderness of Canada’s Yukon, miners found gold flakes that would ignite one of the greatest stampedes of fortune seekers the world has known. Retired National Park Service ranger Pat Pilcher will present the story of this epic event and how Seattle played a crucial role in this remarkable chapter of Northwest history. Ethiopian New Year

Sea Mar Fiestas Patrias Outing

Sea Mar Fiestas Patrias commemorates the independence of Latin American countries, many of which celebrate their national independence day in the month of September. Join us on an outing to Seattle Center to experience this festival and enjoy delicious traditional Latin American food, cooking demonstrations, live music, traditional folk dance performances, and more! $5 for members, $7 for non-members. Live Folk Music: David Coller & Diane Chodkowski

David Coller and Diane Chodkowski have been making music and a life together for over ten years and are overjoyed to be performing regularly again! David has been writing and performing folk music since his teens (which, he will be the first to tell you, means a VERY long time). He earned a BA in music from USC and has continued to play in bands, duos, and as a solo performer, both in Southern California and in Connecticut. Diane caught the folk music bug in sixth grade when a teacher sang folk songs of the era to her class. In the 1980s, she lived in New York City in the Fast Folk singer-songwriter scene, where she was surrounded by amazing musicians and had the great privilege of singing harmony and recording with some of them. This duo brings a variety of original songs: some straight-up folk, jazzy tunes that feel like standards, a bit of bluegrass, and some sea-songs, performed on the guitar, banjo, and the odd bit of button accordion.

Washington State Fair Outing
