Dotted Line Open Studio and Holiday Party

While the Wallingford Art Walk is on a brief hiatus, one local studio plans to be open for December's first Wednesday: Annie Huntley, owner/designer of Dotted Line Jewels and the StuStuStudio, is hosting an open studio holiday party tomorrow (12/7), from 6-10pm. Annie will be serving up holiday cookies, mulled wine, and she'll have affordable art available for purchase including photography, jewelry, and multi-media work by local artists. KAOS Kamp Car Kackle

You're walking down NE 46th Street around Sunnyside and checking out the cars. There's a Honda Fit, there's a Subaru Outback, maybe a Ford Explorer and there's a...WTF? Is it a car? A truck? A monster? No, it's just Kackle, the product of Kaos Camp. This is going to take a little explaining. Burning Man is a massive arts / alternative lifestyle festival that goes on every year in the Nevada desert the week leading up through Labor Day weekend. About…

Last Art Walk of 2011

Last Wednesday was the last Wallingford Farmer's Market of 2011, and this Wednesday will be the last Wallingford Art Walk of 2011. The Art Walk committee had originally planned to turn the Art Walk into a year-round event, but based on community reaction and declining attendance, they've decided to take a break for the next several months, and come back starting in February with an every-other-month event. Tara Shuttleworth, the organizer, wrote: We have enjoyed the past year and trying to make…

Debra Barnes, the creative director for the project wrote to tell us that "The artists are terrific and the universe is smiling." Hours are…

La Figa

A year or two back, our friend (and James Beard-award winning chef) Tiberio Simone asked if he could have some of the honey our bees make here in Wallingford. He wanted to drizzle over the naked bodies of some friends and take pictures. We didn't end up giving him any, not for any prudish reasons, rather just plain laziness. It's a shame, because the book of photos that he and Matt Freedman created, La Figa: Visions of Food and Form, is a truly…

What in the Wallingford

What in the Wallingford? Wasn't that that old series of puzzles, where Wallyhood would post a photo taken somewhere in Wallingford, and then the reader would have to figure out what it was? Yes, that's the one. But then he put out a puzzle and never announced the winner, and just kind of let the whole thing peter out? Lame. OK, OK, we all get busy. But thanks to helpful reader Gayle Perez and a slow news day, we're back! First,…
