Seattle Schools start two hours late today

All Seattle Schools will open two hours late this morning due to hazardous road conditions.  Regular school bus routes are still in effect, but there is no door-to-door service. There is no SPS morning breakfast service, no Headstart or preschool, and no half day kindergarten.  There is full day kindergarten but it will start two hours late. Meeting Rescheduled for Seattle Schools Transition Plan

Early last month we told you about a series of meetings that Seattle Public Schools scheduled to talk about the New Student Assignment Plan and what sorts of things will happen during the second "transition year".  One of those meetings, slated to discuss our cluster of schools, was to be held on November 22--the day the big snowstorm hit and closed down the city. Hamilton 6th grader struck by car

Yesterday at about 7:45 a.m., a 6th grade student from Hamilton was struck by a car while she was in the crosswalk at 43rd and Wallingford Avenue North.  A Hamilton parent wrote in our Forums that the student sustained hip and thigh injuries, but that the school informed the students yesterday that she will be o.k., which we're very glad to hear. Stay safe, folks!  It's dark and dreary this time of year.

Seattle Schools Update (Tuesday PM Edition)

Seattle Public Schools just announced that there will be no school for all students on Wednesday, 11/24.  The central offices at the John Stanford Center down in SODO are closed as well.  Listen to the message. The Meridian School will also be closed on Wednesday. Update: Jacqui asked us to mention that the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club will be closed on Wednesday, too, as they follow Seattle Schools' closure rules.  Thanks, Jacqui!

Seattle Schools Update (Monday P.M. Edition)

Seattle Public Schools just announced that all schools and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, which means there's no school for Hamilton and Roosevelt, and no parent-teacher conferences for our elementary and K-8 schools.  You can listen to the message.
