Put On Your Dancing Shoes!

OK, Steve Winwood won’t be there but YOU should be. Come and learn some new steps and kick up your heels in community with others to support two local non-profit organizations strengthening individuals, families and seniors in the north end. A heart-y pancake breakfast

Valentine's Day may be over, but it's still  heart month; and to celebrate, the Wallingford Community Senior Center (4649 Sunnyside Ave N #140) is hosting a Pancake Breakfast this Sunday, featuring free-formed heart-shaped pancakes and lots of other goodies for the whole family. Slide to Nowhere

The lunchroom was all a-twitter at Lincoln High this week (Lincoln being the semi-permanent home of APP@Lincoln Elementary School). Rumor had it that someone at a nearby home had installed a slide in their front yard - a slide which slid straight into a fence. Wallingford Community Center Open House

The Wallingford Community Senior Center (WCSC) is hosting a seasonal open house next week and everyone from the neighborhood is invited to this family-friendly event. Gimme Some Pancakes!

Yes!  The Wallingford Community Senior Center is going back to holding its popular Sunday Pancake Breakfast quarterly.  Okay, it's not as good as being able to stuff yourself with homemade pancakes and French toast for a good cause every month, but it's a start! The next one is February 27th from 9 AM to 12 PM in the basement of the Good Shepherd Center.  Adults only $5 and Kids $2.50.  Just follow your nose. Photo by oddharmonic.

Support Businesses to Support Seniors

It seems odd to me to hear seniors being called a "special interest group".  Because if you think about it, it's only a matter of time until we all become seniors (if we're lucky). Bearing that in mind, the Wallingford Community Senior Center needs your help.  Earlier this year an anonymous donor put up a $25,000 matching grant to help keep the struggling organization going and last I heard they still need $7,000 to get the full amount.
