I Love Recycling Because

The Think Green Recycling Challenge rolls on. Wallingford's Waste Management route, Friday North,is in ninth place as of the end of November 2012. Hey, we have nowhere to go but up! But we do have a good chance of winning up to $10,000 for neighborhood projects as a result of monthly Recycling Challenge outreach activities. A plea for kindness

We received a very moving account of an incident that occurred today in front of Bartell's. The reader who sent this to us wishes to remain anonymous:  As I was walking home from the U-district today, I encountered what appeared to be a man passed out at the bus stop in front of the Bartell’s on 45th. Miyabi Opens

Miyabi, the new "Japanese Gastro Pub" that's filling the spot previously held by Rain Sushi on 45th, opened last week. We ducked our heads in for a quick peruse, but, as we only discovered that it had opened by walking by, and as conducting an interview with a new restauranteur can be difficult with a tired four-year-old in a superhero costume riding on your shoulders, we're going to be short on details. What we can say is that the house was…

New Construction

What with all the condo construction going on, it seems like Wallingford is the new Ballard. The latest property up is the former AV Tech building at 34th and Wallingford, just above Gas Works park and across from the Varsity Inn Restaurant. The Seattle Times is reporting that Chicago-based AMLI Residential has proposed a 240-unit complex in that location. Jason Moll writes: While we are a welcoming community, 240 new neighbors adds a lot of density to our little slice of…
