Joule (Re)opens tonight

Joule is set to open its doors for dinner tonight in its new location at The Fremont Collective on Stone Way at N. 35th St. (3506 Stone Way N.) You may remember when the restaurant ditched us left its former location on N. 45th Street back in April for bigger digs and outdoor seating. Sic Transit WNA

When we first started started writing Wallyhood, one of the great puzzles was how the different civic organizations fit together: the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce, the Wallingford Community Council and the Wallingford Neighborhood Association (operating the Wallingford Neighborhood Office) each had slightly different, but slightly overlapping missions and goals. We sat on a stool at Mosaic and got a tutorial on it from Mary Heim, but still felt a little blurry on why a little community needed all three. Well, things…

Great Dog / Van Adventure

Some of you may have seen posters and postings on a van that was stolen from Wallingford Saturday night...with a dog inside. We wanted you to know there's a happy ending! Scott Tomlin of Comics Dungeon explains: We are planning on moving by the end of next week, earlier if we can pull it off. We are moving for a couple…

‘Art-full’ Garage Sale

Wallyhood's architecture writer, Patricia, wanted to let everyone know that she's holding a big garage sale this weekend, "and there's lots of art, books, tsatskes for every Wallingford taste (as long as it's liberal…)" she adds. Here's more info: This year I've remodeled and moved to a different house in Wallingford (yes, of COURSE, in Wallingford), and am now trying to get my 'old' house ready to rent.  So, this weekend I'm having a grand garage sale (it's really in the…

Eco-Totem

A bit beyond our borders, but if you should happen to be peddling over the Fremont Bridge, you may get a gander of the thing pictured at right. It's taking a gander of you, too: [Last week], the Cascade Bicycle Club and the Seattle Department of Transportation unveiled the new bicycle counter totem now installed at the north end of the Fremont Bridge. The totem, which is more than seven feet tall, has a digital display of the number of bicyclists…
