Note from Waterway 18

Oliver Bazinet forwarded us this note, penned by Waterway 18: Dear Wallingford, I think it’s time for a formal introduction - my name is Waterway 18. Nice to meet you. I’m not a loud, high profile waterway so sometimes it’s hard to be noticed. In fact, I’m just a little parklet hanging out down along Lake Union between Dunato’s boat yard and the big empty lot next to the Gasworks Marina. Sometimes you might bring Fido, your paddleboard, canoe or kayak…

Whether they sailed the high seas in search of a meteorite with the drunken Captain Haddock, or gave the bungling Thom(p)son twin detectives the slip; in the end, Tintin and…

For the Love of Pete

A guy walks through QFC parking lot with a pair of matching brown Boxer dogs, one has its hind legs in a wheeled contraption that rolls along, the other does not. Inside QFC I notice more of this summer's new fashion, floor-length slinky sundresses.  The middle-aged woman in me approves, it's attractive but covers a lot. Obama over Wallingford?

Glen writes: Have you heard anything about what was possibly Obama flying over Wallingford tonight around 5:30?  He was scheduled to leave Seattle at 3pm so maybe he wasn't aboard, but I think it was his helicopter. All news to us, but we did see what looked like a coast guard helicopter following an identically marked 747 flying south over the U District and Capitol Hill around 6:50 pm tonight. They both had the red stripes of the coast guard, not…
