Cinco de Bandolero

We never gave a proper welcome for our newest Wallyhood sponsor, Bandolero (2253 N 56th St), so the week of Cinco de Mayo seems like a proper time to do it. After all, this is the bar with over sixty different types of tequila to choose from. On St. Patrick's Day, go to Murphy's. On Cinco de Mayo, make it Bandolero. Doors open at noon on Thursday, they'll be turning their deck into a Margarita and Beer Garden and featuring The…

Bald Man Watching

A week or so ago, we spotted this cut-out on telephone poles going up 40th from the U District. We asked the Twitterverse what was up: Seen these popping up along 40th in Wallingford. Who knows the story? http://t.co/lYW7Y7z But heard few clues back: Sarah said she'd seen similar signs around Green Lake, but without the hair, but that was it. Fast forward to this past Thursday evening, which found us at the Fred Wildlife Refuge on Capitol Hill for the City…

What in the Wallingford

We're a bit tardy with our What in the Wallingford contest this week...we skipped it altogether last week. Sleepwalking Rocky returns

Two weeks ago, we told you about a filmmaker who was going to be shooting scenes at Gas Works Park for his film about a man who worked out while sleepwalking.  The production crew has given us another "heads up" that they'll be spending tomorrow night (Monday, May 2), starting at 6pm, to shoot additional scenes for "Bed Track and Beyond" up and down Sundial Hill. They wrote to tell us, "At this point in the story, at Gas Works, his…

Wallingford celebrates May Day

Sunday is May Day, and the weather forecast calls for clear, sunny skies with a high of 66 degrees. Heaven! Reader Kimberly C dropped us a note to let us know that her Morris dance troupe, The Sound and Fury Morris Dancers will be greeting the sunrise on Sunday morning at Gas Works Park. You may remember, this is the same group who Wassailed their way around Meridian Park back in January. I'll let her explain the May Day dance: Morris…

Pull up a bar stool and take a minute to get to know another wonderful Wallyhood sponsor: Jay Farias, Proprietor of Bandolero: Where are you from? - Dartmouth, Massachusetts. I moved here in 1991.
