Wallingford Weekend

In order to ensure a sunny weekend, we must - each and every one of us - plan on spending our weekend indoors.  You understand, yes?  This week's Wallingford Weekend will feature a few indoor performances for you to consider.  And hey, if you see a good play or a fantastic opera, AND we get sunshine, well, drop me a thank you note: Friday night, Stone Soup Theater kicks off their (XX) Fest, a festival of plays written exclusively by women.  …

The Mighty-O Winner

The winner of the Mighty-O contest is Abby Klingbeil!  Abby and her husband will be attending Mighty-O's private screening of The Food Network Challenge this Sunday, at 8pm. When we asked readers what they liked best about Mighty-O, Abby wrote: Oh, where to start? I love that all the employees at Mighty O’s staff, especially Julie, always have been so sweet and attentive to my little toddler, who made her first trip there when she was just days old. Now 21…

‘Now and Then’ at MOHAI

Paul Dorpat, Wallingford's very own "celebrian" (celebrity historian--yeah, I made that up), has worked with the Museum of History & Indsutry (MOHAI) for a "Now and Then" exhibit, which opens this Saturday, April 9, and runs until Sunday, June 3. If you're a fan of Paul's weekly "Now and Then" column for The Seattle Times' Pacific Northwest Magazine, you'll see quite a bit of his "repeat photography" in which he uses historical and contemporary photographs to reveal the changes in our…

What in the Wallingford

It looks like we've finally hit the appropriate level of stumpiness in this contest. There were many guesses where we took this photo, but only a very few correct ones. In fact, the photo taken was in the small pocket park nestled just to the west of Ivar's on the water front. Art Walk

It's the first Wednesday of the month, and thus, Wallingford Art Walk. The number of participating businesses seems diminished from previous months, but perhaps Art Walk is resting and gathering its strength for May, which we're told will be a sort of "grand re-opening" of the event. Here's what we're told is happening: Irwin's: Aaron Winnenberg Stu Stu Studio: Robin DeAlva (Encaustic painting) Oasis Art Gallery: Connectivity Seattle Mosaic Arts: Group exhibit and--in honor of Spring, Earth Day, and Arbor Day--will…
