A Muddy Cup, Comics Dungeon Burglarized

Last night around 11:30 p.m., the police came to Sarah Dolezal's home to inform her that her store, A Muddy Cup (266 NE 45th St.), had just been burglarized.  Someone had thrown a rock through the door and shattered the glass to break in.  Police informed Dolezal that someone had also broken into Comics Dungeon (250 NE 45th St.). Dolezal wrote to let me know that they're still open for business, "just a little shaken." She and her partner Mathew spent…

“No Confidence” In The SPS Operations Levy

[Ed Note: Elections are coming up, and this stuff is important, so we're covering it. You may disagree with the opinions of the writers. We invite opposing viewpoints to share their perspective.] Most votes this fall divide cleanly along liberal / conservative battle lines. Another frog inside A Muddy Cup. Step inside for the first time, instantly this is my new favorite coffee shop. If the row of ceramic critters doesn't convince you, take a closer look at the fake deer head wearing sunglasses (her name is Chloe). And the rocking horse. Mathew…

Amblin’ Down Ashworth

Check it out:  Molly Moon's totally empty.  There is absolutely nobody here but me.  Unnerving. Uh oh.  Somebody has dropped their soccer drills.  What's the team practicing instead? In the pale early evening sky, a pale very nearly full moon appears. Thousands of powdery whitish-blue insects float ever upward.  Only today - they were all born at once and they'll all be gone tomorrow. A secret stash filled with bags of dog poop.  Why? What a retro classic.  Doesn't that look…

Here’s a rundown on some bits and pieces of news from Wallingford: New stuff A new hot dog stand called “Doggy Style” will open soon in the small space directly to the right of Big Wheel Auto Parts (4455 Stone Way N.).  Owner Odie Haylock says he’ll call us “as soon as I steam the first dog." A new restaurant called Satay will open some time in November in the old Avila space (1711 N. 45th St.).  Stay tuned for an…
