Stuffed with Dim Sum and Very Happy

After a long trip to the Northern Canadian wilderness our family returned to Seattle hungry for ethnic urban eats.  What better place than the new Bamboo Village at the corner of Stone Way and N 49th St? I include this sign facing Stone Way because it makes me smile.  It's authentic. View from the surprisingly spacious parking lot (although we walked - yes! walked to dim sum in Wallingford). Inside, it's also surprisingly light, bright and spacious with clean high ceilings…

Lullaby Moon 2010. Wanna Play?

Lucia Neare's Theatrical Wonders announces Lullaby Moon returns to Gas Works Park on Friday, September 10th. Why mention it now?  Because if you'd like to participate in this year's performance, it's time to apply!  They're seeking performers (dancers, actors, clowns) and volunteers to help pull off this fun little end of summer event.  Click here for more info about getting involved. And for those of you unfamiliar, Lucia Neare's Lullaby Moon page describes the event as: "...a free, large-scale, site-specific public…

News from Nearby

Sometimes -- not very often -- but sometimes, newsworthy events take place outside of Wallingford. Sky River and the Universal Worm

Richard graciously opened the gates to friends (chorus members) and…

Neighborhood Roundup

Since there isn’t a whole heck of a lot going on in Wallingford this weekend, we wouldn’t blame you if you trotted over to Capitol Hill for its annual block party. The three-day passes are long gone but there are still single day tickets available for Saturday and Sunday.  Just be sure to come back to Wallingford afterwards! For those of you sticking around, here’s some cool stuff to check out: BBQ at Leny’s Saturday, July 24th from 1 – 4…

Tar, Baby

Robert Delaware spotted a mystery at Gas Works Park: a fenced off area with an "Access Restricted" sign: "Due to the ongoing presence of tar, access to this site is restricted." Tar? Really? Like La Brea Tar, or like street tar? The sign said to call David Graves at Seattle Parks and Recreation for more information, so call him, we did. Now, as anyone familiar with Wallingford history knows, Gas Works Park is so named for the gas plant, tar refinery…
