Did Goldie’s Just Serve Their Last Pint?

We just heard word through the "bartender grapevine" that Goldie's (2121 N 45th St) shut their doors for good last night. There's some speculation going around as to what might have occurred, but we're still searching for the facts. According to tipsters, there are no lights on or customers inside the bar tonight.  Who has the scoop?

Tweedy and Popp re-rented

Hot on the heels of the new auto shop opening where Walt's used to be and a bike company going in where the Essential Bakery was, we learn that the empty space where Tweedy and Popp used to be (before moving to Wallingford Center) has a new tenant. We don't know who yet, just this note by iyqtoo from our comments section of our Walt's post: The former Tweedy & Popp space was leased too! Just last night we were mourning…

For now, the Parks Department will regularly check the dispenser and re-stock as necessary. I've agreed to follow up with them in a few months to see…

Hamilton Construction Update

A few months back, a Wallyhood reader had commented on the use of single-paned windows versus double-paned for the sake of energy efficiency at Hamilton.  I spoke with Michael Romero from Heery (the Hamilton construction manager) and he informed me that due to Landmark Commission guidelines regarding replacement windows, all of the original 1926 windows and panes were left intact, with the exception of those that were broken or cracked.  Each window was taken down, tagged, and sent to a window…
