Weekend Roundup

Okay y’all.  Hang on, hang on… Don’t hibernate completely yet!

I know you’re tempted.  I’ve heard the hush that falls over the neighborhood as soon as rush hour ends in the evenings.  But don’t give in!  There’s still stuff to do before you have to carry your raincoat everywhere you go.  Here’s a sampling for the weekend:

Friday 10/8

  • 8 PM – LP/CD release event, FLIGHTPATTERNS by Open Graves (Paul Kikuchi and Jesse Olsen) along with guests Stuart Dempster and Chris DeLaurenti.  Chapel Performance Space at Good Shepherd Center 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N, 4th floor.  $5-$15 sliding scale.  Read more here.
  • In the mood for a movie?  The Guild 45th Theater is showing Never Let Me Go & The Town.  Showtimes here.
  • Still in the mood for a movie?  This week’s Meaningful Movies showing is Age of Stupid.  7PM – 9:30Pm at Keystone Congregational United Church of Christ, 5019 Keystone Place North.  Movie description here. And it’s free!  (Donations accepted, of course)

Saturday 10/9

  • 8 PM – soprano Natalie Lerch and pianist Lucy Wenger songs of women poets set to music by Debussy, Poulenc, Eric Banks, Gordon Getty, William Walton Rea, Adam Stern, Paul Vasile, William Bolcom, and Ernesto Nazareth. Chapel Performance Space at Good Shepherd Center 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N, 4th floor.  $15 ($10 for students and seniors).  Read more here.
  • Seattle Weekly’s REVERB, Seattle’s only completely local music festival. Downtown Ballard, 3pm-2am.  $15.  That’s SIXTY local bands for 15 bucks.  Can’t be that!  Learn a lot more here, or grab the new Seattle Weekly for a supplement with lots of info.

Sunday 10/10

  • Wallingford Center Pin Contest Deadline.  If your little one likes to draw, don’t miss this Sunday’s “pin contest” deadline.  More details here.
  • 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM Climate Friendly Coffee Hour  (or is that, Climate Friendly Coffee 3/4 Hour?) at Keystone Congregational United Church of Christ, 5019 Keystone Place North.  Learn more here.

Update:  This post was updated to reflect that “The Kids Are All Right” ended its run at the Guild 45th Theater on Thursday when this post was published.  “Never Let Me Go” opens this weekend to replace it.
