Mosaic for the world

  • Post author:
Mosaic artist Laurel True has traveled the world to provide impoverished communities with mosaic art, fostering not only beautification, but arts education, and empowerment to people for community collaboration. True will be at Seattle Mosaic Arts (1325 N. 46th St.) for a workshop that discusses facilitating community mosaic projects. Mosaic artists, teachers, community organizers and anyone interested in community development and entrepreneurial training through the arts will benefit from this workshop. The workshop will be held next Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24, from 10am – 5pm, and the cost is $350 to register. Click here for more information.

Seattle Mosaic Arts is also sponsoring a lecture given by True about her community mosaic projects next Friday, July 22, at Seattle Biomed (307 Westlake Avenue North, Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98109-5219). The presentation will focus on True’s community mosaic projects in places around the world, including Ghana, Kenya, 9th Ward in New Orleans, and Haiti. This is a fundraiser for True’s current art project in Mirebalais, Haiti, which will be featured in a newly-constructed hospital. Tickets are available at Seattle Mosaic Arts (www.seattlemosaicarts.com 206-402-6642), and $10 and will go to Partners In Health Mosaic Artwork Fund at Mirebalais Hospital. Click here for more information about the lecture.
