Here's a photo of the crane being installed on March 18, 2011

Hey, whatdya know? The big Ness crane at the festering pit, Stoneway Village, er — Prescott Wallingford is finally coming down after its year-long stay! Wow. What a milestone! I’m declaring Saturday, March 3, 2012 “Dismantling the Crane” day in Wallingford.

Now for the important message from SDOT about lane closures:

On Saturday, March 3, Ness Cranes will dismantle a large tower crane on Stone Way N between Bridge Way N and N 40th Street.  The all-day project will begin at 5 a.m. and be completed by 6 p.m.  The work will take place on the northbound or eastern lanes of the street.  Traffic will be shifted to the western half of Stone Way N and will be reduced down to one lane northbound and one lane southbound.

And this is significant because……??? I mean, it’s great that the project has made good progress, but there are cranes all over the city right now, from South Lake Union to Capitol Hill to Ballard. Not seeing what the big deal is about a crane.

The big deal is the traffic disruption on a major arterial. Having a standing Saturday morning commitment in Seattle Center, I, for one, appreciate learning about this ahead of time.
