“What’s ‘Sugaring’?” you ask? Yeah, well, don’t feel bad because I had no idea myself (or maybe it’s just me, and if that’s the case then, uh, whoops); but here’s what I learned from Smooth Sugaring Studio owner, Jill Maurisak:
Sugaring is an ancient form of hair removal that uses a paste made from sugar, water and lemon. The sugaring method removes hair in the natural direction of hair growth. This causes less irritation, pain and breakage, which leads to fewer ingrown hairs. It’s a sweet alternative to waxing!
Jill also tells us that she opened the first Smooth Sugaring Studio in Madison Park in 2008 and having had a chance to peruse the studio’s Yelp reviews, people really love it.
