Lotus Thai Closed For Remodeling. Under New Management.

Margaret Margaret January 17, 2013 7 Comments

Lotus ThaiHave you noticed that Lotus Thai (2101 North 45th Street) is closed?

Wallyhood reader, Neil, tells us his wife spotted the sign on the door and paper on the windows, so we did some calling and got the scoop:

The restaurant is now under new management, and we spoke to the new owner, Lucky, who told us that they’re closed for remodeling. They hope to re-open some time in February, with a shiny, new name, “Silver Tray”.

“Mom” told me a couple months ago that she planned to retire and return to her family in Thailand. My family had many, many good meals from Lotus over the years, both carryout and eat-in.

All the best. My girls will miss the tasty and convenient food. Good luck to the new folks. I am sure we will be stopping in.

So will it be another Thai restaurant or something else?

It will be Thai as well.

And to continue on Karen’s thoughts, hopefully the new management will allow us to have more than a couple of beers! Never had a panang with no coconut milk and plenty of oil, until i ate here. Looking forward to trying out the new place. Yay!

We were regular takeout customers of Lotus and tolerated the grumpy/minimal service for the decent food. Here’s hoping the new establishment can give the best of both worlds.

I ate there once and never again. I hope the new place will have better food, clean and nice management. Also not stealing the What’s Cooking in Wallingford artwork would be good.
