Whistling Pipes

Michelle writes: I don't know who else to ask, but WHAT is that high-pitched noise coming from the part of the 'hood, down by 34th and Wallingford (or at least that's where i hear it!) Wind through a pipe? Dog whistle for people? It is insufferable at night, and i can't think of who to ask/call about it. You were the first people i thought to contact. Last time we had a question about noise, it was the "helicopter hovering over…

Amores Perros Update

As a result of community feedback on my last playground post, Amores Perros, I contacted Seattle Parks and Recreation with our request for a MuttMitt dispenser for Wallingford Playfield. I've been informed by a communications manager that due to budget cuts, the Parks Department will not be able to accomodate all requests as they have in the past, but he has put it to the attention of the grounds supervisor so it is now officially under consideration. I'll provide an update once I get word of the decision.…

Nothing's free, right? Well, as it happens, some things are. We're experimenting with an advertising platform built by our paisans over in Capitol Hill, Instivate. That banner you see between the first and second post on the Wallyhood home page and the other one you see at the bottom of the sidebar are both powered by their InstiAds platform. Salon Tousle Opening in Former Jamba Juice Spot

On the way to preschool this morning, I noticed a large red, oval-shaped sign being installed on the ground floor level of the apartment buildings on the corner of 46th and Stone Way. After a little investigative research, I found that a new hair salon is opening in the space where Jamba Juice once occupied for about a week. Tousle is touting itself as "Seattle's Premier Hair Studio" and will hold a grand opening event on March 6.  Light appetizers and…

Officer Jackson at Chamber Meeting

  • Post author:

Late-breaking info, but the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce is holding their monthly lunch meeting today at noon at Tutta Bella. Special guest this month is Officer Jackson, the famously unresponsive "community police officer" for Wallingford . Member and non-member businesses are welcome, $18 for members, $20 for non-members.

Break-in at Quizno’s?

I stopped by Quizno's for a little diet pepsi and saw some wood paneling (where there should have been glass) on their front and side doors. The sandwich artist on shift said that the store had been broken into last Monday night/early Tuesday morning - cash and food were missing. I didn't get much more information than that, so let us know if you've heard anything else. Hopefully, the sammies will be safe going forward.
