Here are a few events on tap for this weekend: "WaterRIP" at Kerf International Gallery, Wallingford Center Kerf International Gallery is opening a new show in the Wallingford Center. Healing Rain is a four artist extravaganza that is unusual and relevant. "WaterRIP" installation links water to humans using recycouture gowns as metaphors. Off-Leash or Playfield? Shape the Parks Legacy Plan!

Back in November, 2000, one of the first acts that I committed as a new Seattleite was to vote in support of the Pro Parks levy. IMHO, this levy has done great things for Seattle’s parks. Practically every time I’m at a park, I see a sign boasting that X project was completed with funds from the Pro Parks levy. And if you don’t believe me, just take a look at this project list,  which impressively covers everything from Ballard Commons Park…

A Quick Dip on the Way to the Farmer’s Market

(Wallyhood welcomes Kimberly Christensen to our writing corps. If you'd like to join her, let us know!) As any good Wallingfordian knows, sunny + 70 = summer! Vote to keep Seattle wading pools open this summer

We'd like to thank Wallingford resident Greg Flood who wrote the following guest post: Ask.com is doing a survey to select a project to fund for Seattle and funding operation of our wading pools is one possibility. It only takes a few seconds to vote at http://www.seattleasks.com/ before May 15. If successful, Seattle pools will be saved for this summer, but what about future years? Seattle Parks and Recreation has reduced the operating hours of Seattle wading pools in recent years due to budget cuts.…

Green Lake gets spiffy for summer

We wanted to give you the heads-up in case you're headed to Green Lake these next few days.  Seattle Parks is holding a "Work Jamboree" between 8:00am and 2:00PM on April 18-20 to gussy up the park and get it ready for the summer. Specifically, they'll be doing rolling closures of the outer running loop to resurface the path. Work starts today (April 18) at the Bathhouse Theatre and then moves clockwise to the pitch and putt golf course. Here's what…
