If you are out and about, you might spot an Olympian in our midst. Virginia Wade, a Wallingford native, is an Olympic alpine skier, in the Special Olympics. She is headed to Austria and the World Special Olympic Games in a few weeks. Virginia, a sixteen-year-old Roosevelt High School freshman, competes in the giant Slalom and the Super G. She trains with the Skihawks at Snoqualmie Pass and has been skiing since she was 4. She will travel with the Washington delegation…

If you ride the Burke Gilman Trail as much as I do, you can't help but notice the tents that have sprung up alongside the trail in the past few months. I've seen a couple between Corliss and Eastern, and another just west of Gasworks Park. I can't help but wonder if the appearance of these tents was related to the clear out of the Jungle back in October. Whatever the cause, the arrival of the tents is a recent event.…

Last Tuesday's Urban Village Community Design Workshop sponsored by the City of Seattle was a success!  Over 300 people attended the meeting to participate in a dialogue with a representative of Councilperson Rob Johnson's office, the Office of Planning and Community Development, and the Office of Housing.  I will have to say that I was somewhat shocked and surprised that Councilperson Johnson did not show up for the meeting in that he missed a valuable opportunity to engage in a dialogue…
