Now that Move Seattle has passed, the language Jean Godden added to the levy for us is part of the plan. SDOT must "Develop plans and complete improvements to enhance the NE 45th St corridor for pedestrians and cyclists between 4th Ave NE and Brooklyn Ave NE by the time University Light Rail opens in 2021." The current Bike Master Plan needs to be fixed as it lists no I-5 bike crossing options except for the unfunded and unplanned 47th street bike…

Satay's last day was yesterday, we'll be missing Satay's dog-friendly back porch and laid back atmosphere. Stone Soup Theatre will be shutting down the DownStage performance space at 40th and Stone Way after 20 years of performances this December. From Satay: We’d like to thank all our customers, employees, friends and family for their support over the years. A special thanks goes out to our Auntie Moon whose generosity in teaching us how to cook Malaysian food is much appreciated. Sincerely, The Satay Brothers From Stone…

We're looking at fixes to the Bike Master Plan for Wallingford now that Move Seattle passed. First up: Green Lake Way and 50th. Currently, the Bike Master Plan includes a cycle track on Green Lake Way North of 50th that continues around the lake, up to and past the Green Lake Community Center. The cycle track will be on the side of Green Lake Way that faces the park because that reduces conflicts with cars. It will also continue on 50th West…

The election results from Tuesday mean HALA and Seattle 2035 now have a clear path to become law over the next couple years, including the upzoning of the Wallingford Urban Village. At Wednesday's WCC meeting architect and longtime WCC land use guru Greg Hill went through the  159 pages of Seattle 2035 and pulled out this sampling of developer goodies packed inside: Land Use Guideline from Current Comprehensive Plan Mayor’s Recommended Change Change LU1 LU1.1 Use the goals and policies included in this Plan to identify on…

On Tuesday, Patty and Joe's house at 4059 Latona Ave NE was destroyed in a fire. The house has been an iconic standout in the neighborhood for the wonderfully prodigious array of holiday decorations they put out several times a year: Christmas, Halloween, the Fourth of July. Both Patty and Joe were unharmed in the fire, and one of their dogs miraculously survived, but the house, their personal belongings and amazing collection of decorations are lost. The comments section of the…
