Yogurtland Now Open

Back in September, we told you that Yogurtland was coming to occupy the old Quiznos space on N. 45th at Sunnyside Avenue N. (2320 N. 45th St.) By the looks of it, that day has arrived. Yogurtland is open for a half day today but tomorrow (Wednesday, November 30) they'll be open during their regular hours (11:00am - 11:00pm) Need a reason to check them out? Here's a few. The Chocolate Hazelnut is wonderful. Owner Gregg Bennett told me that Yogurtland will…

Medical Marijuana comes to Wallingford

Last week, we learned via Wallyhood Forums that a new business named "GMG" had moved into the other half of the building that Cutz Meridian operates out of.  We sent out guest blogger, Annie Mouse, to check it out.  Thanks, Annie! Grasshopper Medical Group (GMG) is now open in Wallingford, at 4515 Meridian Avenue North, Suite A -- next to Cutz Meridian and just behind Murphy's Irish Pub. I dropped by recently and was met at the door by two very…

New tenants for 1441 North 34th

On Sunday, I spotted a Bekins moving truck that was unloading file cabinets & rolling them into 1441 N. 34th Street, where the Institute for Systems Biology used to be across from Essential Baking.  I talked to the movers and they had no idea who the new tenant is.  I'm not finding any other information about possible new tenants online. Hence this post. Can anyone fill us in?  Does anybody have any detailes?

Will (snap) you (snap) marry (snap)…

Archie McPhee's awesomely named blog, Endless Geyser of Awesome, had this awesome story on Saturday: Today, at our Seattle store, a customer used the photo booth to propose to his girlfriend. As you can see in the picture above, he held a different sign for each of the four pictures that spelled out “Will you marry me?” He had her get the picture from the machine. She said yes! Definitely, one of the most romantic things to ever happen at Archie McPhee. Come…

Christmas Ships at Gas Works

The Christmas Ships and the Parade of Boats will serenade Wallingford from Gas Works Park this Thursday, December 1st from 8:20 - 8:40 pm. It always seems to last longer than that, though.  In a good way. From Argosy’s web site: "The Argosy Christmas Ship™ festival is a holiday celebration that has been a Northwest tradition for 62 years... From our flotilla of ships to the crowds of people who gather onshore, this celebration is one of the gems of the…

Are Problems at Hamilton Being Addressed Constructively?

The annual school reports have been released for Wallingford. In general, the school reports don't tell you much. The student and parent survey results are more a reflection of the relative performance of teachers within a school and come out about the same across schools (they are useful within a school, but not for comparing schools). Standardized test results are held up high by reform advocates but mostly just reflect school demographics, with a tweak towards how aggressively the school teaches…
