It’s that time of year to start planning your ghoulish Halloween events. Tennis anyone?

Two years ago, when the tennis courts at nearby Woodland Park were resurfaced, I was green with envy.  Seeing those bright blue rectangular boxes outlined in brilliant white made me wish our tennis courts at the Wallingford Playfield would get an upgrade, too. Well, if you’ve recently been to the Wallingford Playfield, you’ll know my wish came true.  Our two little courts have been repainted.  And they look mah-velous! The restaurant's cozy atmosphere made me feel as though I was sitting in my own dining room, surrounded by…

Wallingford schools need AED stewards

Last June, the Seattle Public Schools board voted unanimously to install at least one automatic external defibrillator (AED) in each of the 93 schools all over the city, and to develop an emergency plan that calls for training responders in CPR and the use of an AED.  An AED program in the schools would protect not only the lives of children, but of teachers, administration, and any other adults who are on site at the school. Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can…

Branching out to N. Wallingford

You may remember last month we posted a call for volunteers to walk around the neighborhood and identify some of the trees. Mike Ruby, who's been heading up the project has been pretty pleased with the response so far, but needs a little more help.  Mike sent me the following e-mail last night: We got the last list from SDOT (Seattle Dept of Transportation) yesterday and are ready to work on the area north of 50th. We have four areas, mostly…
