After 42 years of operation, Julia’s Wallingford restaurant closed on December 31, 2023. Wallyhood mourned the occasion, like many across the city. My husband Larry and I stopped in for brunch on that sad day. It was difficult to say goodbye to a neighborhood fixture. Concerned speculation about the redevelopment of the property, and wishes for a replacement restaurant in this space at 4401 Wallingford Ave N were expressed by neighbors. The owners had been hoping to open in October 2023, but issues with permitting delayed construction for several months. Quite a number of Seattle Public Library branches will have their hours shortened for the next couple of months. Our neighborhood branch will be closed Fridays and Saturdays through June 4. I’m not sure when these closures began, but they’re recent. Hopefully, you didn’t show up last Friday or Saturday to find the doors locked. Staffing is one of the issues causing the closures.
