Dognapper’s truck

Our coverage of Stella's dognapping continues, with many thanks to Mari, who sent us a clip of the Durn Good Grocery's surveillance camera footage. If you click on the (.gif) below the picture, you'll be able to see the truck go past the doorway. For those of you reading this in email, you'll have to come to the blog to check it out.

Inflating Lady Liberty

It's on, folks!  Now it's summer! Friday morning, One Reel took Lady Liberty's head out of a crate and put her atop the hill at Gas Works. While setting up, One Reel's Production Director, Winsor Graves, shared some of her history with bystanders.  The large inflatable balloon was custom made in 1992 for the annual fireworks at Gas Works Park.  She is owned by One Reel, but there used to be more to her than a disembodied head.  When she was…

Wallingford Neighborhood Greenway Update

Well, a few things have changed since then, especially the term "bike boulevard" since this proposed dedicated east/west passageway applies not only to bicyclists but pedestrians as well, hence the new term: Neighborhood…

Durn Good dog taken

Jai Wiliamson, owner of the Durn Good Grocery (4002 Wallingford Avenue North) tells us his dog, Stella, is gone. The Rat Terrier was last seen immediately outside of the store, on the sidewalk at about 12:40pm this afternoon. Williamson was inside fixing a freezer when he saw Stella go outside. Moments later, when he went to check on her, he couldn't find her. The owner of Ramona Cleaners across the street was pointing and yelling over to him, but Williamson couldn't…

Take a survey for community centers

Since Wallingford doesn't have a physical community center per se, many families rely on the centers in nearby Green Lake, Ballard, and Ravenna. I've gotta tell ya-- I spend half my life over at Green Lake, mostly for taking my kids to swimming lessons or swim team; and when they were younger, they were each enrolled in the preschool at the community center and we used the toddler play space upstairs on a regular basis. The kids and I have come…
