As soon as the clouds broke on Tuesday afternoon, artists Maggie Schneider and Siolo Thompson made a beeline to their latest project, a new mural for the Wallingford Art Walk. Reader Peg told us about a house fire tonight, on the 4400 block of Thackeray, around 9:00 pm: Firefighters said it was a close call that no one was hurt and it didn't spread far. All residents are fine. Apparently started in the kitchen. Lots of smoke, but no flames visible.

Wallingford businesses Pangaea Organica Coffee and A Muddy Cup were featured during a KIRO 7 News segment on Tuesday about rising coffee prices. According to the segment, the International Coffee Organization reports that coffee prices have more than doubled in the past two years, from $1.06 per pound to $2.24 per pound.
