We've written a few times about fight the Friends of the Library have put on to hold the line on budget cuts. The budget has been completed, and the results are in. Jenny writes: Thought you might be interested in this followup to the library cuts. In the end, the Friends of the Library campaign did have an impact on the City Council Budget Committee, and $860,000 was put back in the budget for the library. Only 15 libraries are going…

Hamilton Construction Update

The good folks over at Seattle Public Schools’ Building Excellence III Program (BEX III) sent us a construction update for Hamilton International Middle School. If you haven’t been over to the playground recently, you should take a quick peek at the new gym. They’ve finished the backside with brick, which complements the rest of the school’s facade nicely.  Here’s an update of the work completed within the last month: As of the end of October, 2009, the main building is roofed…

Welcome sponsor: Historic Homes in Seattle

Like we mentioned, we've got a small passel of new sponsors coming on board, so we hope you'll excuse the small passel of welcome sponsor posts. For this one, we turn our attention to HistoricHomesInSeattle, realtors focusing on vintage and historic homes. We're not going to talk about that at all, though. Instead, we're going to share a bit of the story we found on the "About" page on their site, which we find more interesting than complimenting realtors on their…
