Puppets for Families

Saturday afternoon Drew Derby, King County librarian, storyteller and puppet master, performed a benefit show in the Community Room at FamilyWorks. A packed house of about 100 attentive audience members, of all ages, were treated to several stories and songs from a wide range of traditions. Raising close to $400 dollars for FamilyWorks (well over the $2 suggested donation price), this event was a resounding success and very entertaining, even for the adults. Silent Art Auction Benefit for Haiti

This coming Wednesday Lucid Jazz Club in the U-dist is hosting a silent art auction to benefit relief efforts in Haiti. The owner of Lucid, David Pierre-Louis, after traveling to Haiti to help his family, is spearheading a grassroots relief effort based right here in our backyard.
