40th, 50th, and Green Lake Way north of 50th are all to be repaved next year, which includes a full redesign of the streets that is happening now. Current plans swap out parking lanes for bike lanes, with protected bike lanes added to 40th and a cycle track added to Green Lake Way. City Fruit is a Seattle non profit that promotes the cultivation of urban fruit to build strong communities.  They saw the abundance of fruit trees in the city, and how little of the fruit was consumed.   They have done great work to solve that problem.  Last year they harvested 34,000 pounds of fruit with 19,000 of it going meal programs and food banks.  One tree in Wallyhood’s own Meridian Park generated 490 pounds of fruit. I am sure you have all heard by now, the Seattle Real Estate market is incredibly competitive (HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT).  Here is a more localized look at our own neighborhood.  I had to check my figures twice to make sure I was seeing correctly, but as expected our sweet neighborhood is becoming more and more popular.  As a result, inventory of homes for sale is…

Wallingford Playfield Update

Wallingford Playfield equipment is scheduled to be replaced this Fall (and will be closed for a while while that happens) due to a termite infestation in the swings. While they're replacing the swings, they'll be replacing all the old equipment with metal equipment as well, presumably to avert future termite incursions. It's a $400,000 project, and the Parks Department is collecting feedback from park users on what they'd like to see replace the old equipment: something as close as possible to…

From everything I've heard, the Wallingford Farmers Market in Meridian Park burst into full bloom this year: Wallingford turned out in droves both of the last two Wednesdays, with a lines at the produce stands and a park full of families. But if you didn't manage to get your produce there, you have another local option every Saturday: City Grown. For the past seven years, they've been growing vegetables in their own plot on Eastern Ave N as well as other…
