Grads score free cheeseburgers at Dick’s

Dick's Drive-In is giving away free cheeseburgers to grads who stop by in their cap and gown now through June 21. Aww, I love seeing all those colorful little mortarboard-clad heads! Congrats to all the grads! And here's a neighborly heads-up regarding tomorrow's traffic around the I-5/45th St. Corridor: UW is holding their 136th Commencement Ceremony at Husky Stadium. Doors open at 12:30pm.

More scammers out and about

Block Watch Captain, architect, and coolest home owner Joe Hurley forwarded a bulletin to us from SPD's Terrie Johnston about more door-to-door scammers, and he added this helpful tip: "if you get the shave-and-a-haircut knock, don’t answer the door." Dear Block Watch Captains and Contacts:…

Express Market on 45th

A few weeks back, we stopped in at Express Market, at the corner of 4th Ave NE and 45th across from Wine World, to see about some chocolate for Baby Z. The store seemed oddly bare, full of mostly empty shelves. The counterman noticed our puzzlement and told us that they were expecting more stock soon, "one way or the other". We pressed him for details, casually dropping the name of the stores (and building's) owner, Bob, who we knew from…
