Looking forward to some good old neighborhood chatter TONIGHT! It's a hot one out there, Wallingford. All the reason to cool down with a beverage and some fresh conversation. Join the Wallyhood editors for a summer gathering on the back patio of Murphy's Pub from 6pm-8pm tonight! We will spring for a few appetizers and pitchers of beer, so join us right at 6pm to get in on those.
This post comes to us from John Klees, Marketing and Operations specialist with the Snow Leopard Trust, located in Good Shepherd Center. After over a year of pandemic lockdowns and social distancing, I have vowed to never take our city’s parks and community spaces for granted. And a recent tour of Wallingford’s Good Shepherd Center and Meridian Playground further cemented this rejection of complacency. Throughout the tour our group was reminded that the existence of these parks, and specifically this beautiful…
We hope to see you there! 6pm-8pm -- Come share your neighborhood gossip, pester the writers with story ideas, consider writing a story or two yourself or jumping in as an editor! We can't wait to see the neighborhood for a mid-summer hang and maybe even some heated dialogue about RV parking and outdoor cats!
The Coyotes eat the cats who eat the rats who eat the trash...but where do the crows fit in? Being top of the food chain, Wally-humans may not fear for our own safety when we see a legged or winged predator, but a quick glance at any of the neighborhood facebook groups reminds us that we have a lot of opinions on the growing number of coyote sightings in the neighborhood. A heated debate has emerged on the topic of outdoor…
This post comes to us from neighbor Patricia Bannister. Wallingford has 10 public access points to Lake Union. Yes, 10! And we explored each one on June 28 during a guided neighborhood tour that was organized as part of the Visions of Wallingford community filmmaking project. Our tour leaders were Lee Raaen and Ted Hunter, who have been diligently studying the complex ownership and management of the 23 numbered waterways. These parcels of shoreline along Lake Union are partially intended to…
The Seattle Department of Transportation is offering a very unusual way for you to comment on traffic problems you may wish to see fixed in Wallingford. Do you want a way to safely cross Greenlake Way? Do you want faster traffic on N 45th so you don’t have to wait for pedestrians or stop at red lights? Do you want bicycle-only streets? Well, here is an opportunity to sound off. Rather than some multiple-choice questionnaire they are offering an interactive map…
Hey! Wanna grab a drink? Yes, YOU! It's been a weird couple of years and we are eager to see our neighbors again! Join Wallyhood writers and editors out back at Murphy's for some appetizers, pitchers of beer and lots of neighborhood talk. Wallyhood is, after all, designed to elicit news, stories and gossip from the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle, and where better to get all that than on a pub patio in the summertime?!
