Great deal at Cantinetta

We're not all about posting specials all willy-nilly, but $50 off a meal at Cantinetta seemed worthy: http://deals.livingsocial.com/deals/340?ref=email-jp&rpi=33428 Disclaimer: it's one of those "social deals", so if one more person uses that link, we get ours for free. That's not why we mentioned it, though, just a perk.

Tour de Wallyhood

Being a mom of young kids, living in Wallingford is a gift. There are so many places you can go,  on foot or by bicycle, to amuse the little ones and yourself, as the winter days start to give everyone cabin fever. Just the other day, we made a solid two hour outing of walking around, doing a “tour de wallyhood” if you will. We were gone so long that the baby bjorn straps cut into my shoulders, creating semi-permanent grooves. Perhaps I…

Wallingford Pizza House

Finally checked out the Wallingford Pizza House on a recent Sunday evening, and now I'm wondering why it took me so long to swing by. The Wallingford Pizza House is proud to be Seattle's only classic Chicago Style Pizza House. They're located in a cute little old house (circa 1913) on 45th street, right between the two Guild 45th Theaters.  Our waiter was friendly and attentive while also being laid back in a really comfortable sort of way.  No hovering, no overly anxious…

Wallingford's very own Joule hosts its second annual winter supper series, serving family style comfort food, which to me sounds like just the thing to ward off those winter blues. Each dinner will have 5-7 different dishes that are to be shared among the table. Please visit Joule's Facebook page weeks…

New Year’s Eve Dinner

Has it really been 10 years ago since Y2K? Remember how scared we were that computers everywhere would fail? The frantic stockpiling of provisions and ammunition in the face of the imminent collapse? No? OK, maybe that was just us. Anyhoo, what's your plans for this New Year's Eve, the end of the Aughts? Scribbling resolution lists on the back of a cocktail napkin? Drinking away the memory of the 9/11, the second Bush Adminstration, the resulting rollback of civil liberties,…

Truly Bizarre

I’ve probably passed by Bizarro Italian Café a hundred times, but last weekend was the first time I actually noticed the 23-year-old restaurant, located on Stone Way and 46th. From just the entryway, my boyfriend and I were able to take in the entirety of the lively, intimate interior: chefs whipped through the kitchen, tending to an array of saucepans; mouthwatering scents burst into the dining area as the cooks passed piping hot pastas, blanketed in rich cream sauces, through the…
