Pub Trivia at Blue Star

Wendy Morales over at Blue Star Cafe & Pub (4512 Stone Way N) dropped us a note to let us know that they'll be holding Pub Trivia every Monday night---beginning tonight---from 8-10 pm.  But, this isn't just your ordinary trivia night, my friends.  The event is held by Geeks Who Drink, and from what I've read, these guys put together highly entertaining trivia contests that include audio and visual questions.  According to their website: Geeks Who Drink uses different media (soundbites,…

Day On!

*Updated January 11, 2:43pm While many folks take Monday, January 17 off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, John Stanford families will "Make it a Day On -- Not a Day Off!" Wallingford neighbors are invited to participate in the MLK Day of Service activities at John Stanford International School from 10 am until 2 pm.  The volunteers will be meeting on the school's playground, where they will be weeding, digging, and spreading wood chips.  The playground is just south of…

Home Tour Report?

Sadly, we were not able to attend this year's Wallingford Home Tour. We heard in passing that it was a great time (built-in beer taps in the kitchen, f'reals?). So, Wallingford, if you did the tour, let us know how it went. Leave comments below, or, if you've got photos or something more to share, please e-mail us and we'll repost. Thanks!

Wallyhood Forums Roundup

Got something to share with your neighbors?  Check out the forums section of Wallyhood for announcements, referrals, and answers to various questions (or questions that need answers!)  Here are the highlights from this past week: There's been a lot of discussion about the empty lot near 45th and 5th.  jldimond reports that there's "a constant stream of druggies hiding and fighting in the unchecked growth" and wonders who owns the lot and what can be done to make the adjacent Metro bus stop…

Tomorrow: Pets to the Max!

My Green Lake tells us that the Seattle Humane Soctiety's MaxMobile will be in Tangletown tomorrow for on-the-spot adoption of cats, dogs, and perhaps a bunny or two.  The 33' distinctively-yellow MaxMobile will be parked (now there's a challenge) in front of Mighty-O Donuts (2110 North 55th St.), from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Here's your chance to adopt that pet you've always wanted.  All that, and a bag of donuts, I'd say makes for the perfect Sunday! Thanks for the…

Seattle Hand Drummers Meetup

Years ago in Austin, Texas, I rented an apartment way too close to the University of Texas. Some of my very young neighbors enjoyed organizing drum circles.  They'd gather up some friends, some drums, and lots of beer.  Then they'd head to a highway underpass with fantastic acoustics and drum away.  I regret now that I never joined them, mostly out of fear of being the only adult present during the debauchery (a fear pretty much  confirmed the night they set…
