Changes Turns 22

Wallingford's only gay bar, Changes, is celebrating 22 years in Wallingford Friday. And Saturday.  And Sunday.  And MONDAY too! And we're all invited! Changes is one of the longest running gay bars in all of Seattle.  The bar opened in 1989, under the name The Rat Hole.  Since then,  Changes has outlasted many competitors.  And, true to type (gay bar type, that is) Changes is always committed to sponsoring local gay sports programs. This weekend's anniversary celebration is a big "thank…

Joule’s Winter Supper Series

It's back -- Joule's Winter Supper Series is underway with a different theme each Sunday. This coming Sunday is Hungary and Goulash, which I am all over after a recent trip to Budapest. I've been on the hunt for the perfect Goulash here in Seattle ever since, so Raichel and Seif--you've got a lot to live up to. No pressure or anything. Just sayin'. Call Joule (206-632-1913) to make your reservation for any one of these Sunday themed suppers, from 3-9pm:…

TEDDYxWallingford

Back in October, we were inspired by TEDxRainier, a day of fascinating and inspiring talks by local geeks, chefs, visionaries, authors and do-gooders. What we enjoyed about the day wasn't just the series of talks themselves, each worth the price of admission in themselves, but the conversations between that the talks inspired. Of the talks, one stood out in particular: Michael Hebb argued that how we share food together is as important as what the food is or where it comes from.…

Dick’s Celebrates 57 Years

Here's a little bit of trivia: The first Dick's Drive-in opened on 45th Street right here in Wallingford during a snowstorm on January 25, 1954. A few days later, after the snow melted, they had a re-grand opening on January 28. To celebrate 57 years of flippin' burgers, Dick's is offering 2-for-1 burgers (cheeseburger or regular hamburger) on Tuesday (1/25), between 2-6:30 pm. Buy one cheeseburger or hamburger and get one free (limit 3 free burgers per customer); and on Friday…
