Janey inquires: I was driving home westbound on 45th at around 9:30 last night when I encountered a HUGE group of cyclists, like maybe 50, headed east. Happily, most had lights and helmets. Does anyone have any idea what that was about? Update (3 pm): DOUG. has provided the answer: 2009 Greenlake Race o’ Champions, which, if we had been keeping up on our My Green Lake, we would have known.

School Board Members Discuss Transition Plan

On Wednesday night, the Board members of Seattle Public Schools participated in a work session to discuss implementing the new student assignment plan.  While one half of the work session was devoted to the budget, the other half focused on the transition plan and covered topics pertaining to grandfathering and siblings. Construction on the Burke

Robby D. is wondering about construction blocking off the Burke down by Gas Works, in front of Urban Surf. Radically improving his chances of having his comments published, he included photos! Today I was walking by Urban Surf, and I couldn't help but notice the construction.  It's a big mess, and I was here about a week ago, and I saw the exact same thing.  Never once have i seen a construction worker.  Have they just abandoned the work? Carolers on the Loose!

Maya writes: Wondering if you had other reports of carolers last night (Wednesday 12/16)? I live on 43rd and Whitman and we had some lovely singing voices along the street last night around 8:30, right before a huge downpour. Also, what is the protocol when carolers come to the door? Stand and watch? Join them? Give money? Hide? An excellent question! Growing up in a Jewish (and somewhat enochlophobic) household, our reaction tended to be the same one we used when…
