Piano, anyone?

Kid-To-Kid

Hi! I’m Carly, a 16-year-old who has been playing piano for over a decade and teaching it for 6 years.

I started my little business called Kid-to-KidMusic 6 years ago and, as a 10-year-old, taught piano to other kids in the neighborhood. Right now we have openings for kids between ages 5 and 15. I teach over Zoom to ensure everyone’s safety, and another teacher can take in-person students if that is preferred. Lessons are 30 or 60 minutes at $20 and $35 respectively. We teach one-on-one private lessons using the popular Faber Piano Adventures Method but can also mix …

Fremont Summer Solstice Art Week

For the second year running, the Fremont solstice parade is canceled. In lieu of naked cyclists and a fun family parade, the Fremont Arts Council is hosting a whole week of self-guided art walks, live mural painting, art cars, and stationary floats. Full details can be found at https://fremontfair.com/.

Stationary floats can be found all over the neighborhood on both Saturday and Sunday, but the art cars are only around on Saturday afternoon. See these perennial favorites on Saturday, June 19th from 12-4 next to the Foundry at 3503 Phinney Ave N.

Live mural painting starts on Thursday, June 17th. …

Wallingford Farmers Market opens June 9

The signs are up around the neighborhood, and the good news is out!

After going on hiatus in 2020 due to concerns about COVID-19, the Wallingford Farmers Market will be back in Meridian Park this summer. It will open every Wednesday 3-7 p.m., starting on June 9th and continuing until the end of September. The list of vendors for this year is not finalized yet, but I am assured it will include a mix of new and old favorites.

There will be several changes to the market this year to help promote social distancing: masks are required (no exceptions), shoppers …

Sunny the Sun Dragon

On Saturday, May 15th, B.F Day Elementary School’s PTSA will hold its second annual Dragon Quest from 2 to 4 p.m.

This fundraiser for the school, conceived during the 2020 lockdown, is a way to raise much-needed funds for the PTA while also keeping kids active and socially distanced. Families walk through Wallingford and Fremont hunting for Sunny, the school mascot, and get sponsored for every dragon they find. The more dragons the kids find, the better.

If you’d like to help out B.F. Day school and participate in this fun community event, print this PDF of Sunny the Sun …

Walking through the neighborhood with my family today, I came across a creepy/hilarious art installation in the gazebo of Meridian Park.

What in the world is this about?…
