The Wallingford Art Walk is going to start up soon, but, as much as we love it, it's only once per month. What are we supposed to do the other 30 days? Well, we figured we could create a do-it-yourself art walk of Wallingford: a map of all the outdoor, free to visit pieces of art that are scattered around the neighborhood. We've started the map, below, but we were wondering if you could help us out, since we know that…

Back in January, we let you know about the 46th Street Mural Project, a call out to artists to submit designs for a new mural to be painted on the 46th St underpass beneath Aurora Ave. Well, the steering committee has narrowed down their submissions to three finalists, and they've asked you, the residents of Wallingford (and environs) to help them decide between these three designs: Read about the artists, see pictures of the full submissions and VOTE at the 46th…

Espresso Paintings at Irwin’s!

Okay, check these out.  Was at Irwin's today enjoying an enormous cinnamon roll with my daughter.  We looked up at the wall next to us and noticed some paintings in suspiciously familiar brown tints. Yes, these are paintings done in espresso.  Two are copies of Van Goghs (did he drink a lot of coffee?) and one is an original composition.  Wow, makes you wonder with so much of the stuff around, what else could we do with it?  If you got…

In the meantime, if you're a business that's interested in participating, the deadline to let them know is March 31st. Visit the Wallingford Art Walk web site…

There's something about the phrase "nationally renowned basketmaker" that just tickles our fancy. We imagine velvet ropes pulled back, excited murmurs of recognition, and stadium crowds roaring for this expert weaver. Ah, would that we lived in such a world. Perhaps if the artists of Fiberati have their way, some day we may. This Saturday, March 13th from 10 am - 5 pm at the Good Shepherd Center #202, the 12-person collective will be holding a group show and sale. The…
