Corporate Graffiti

Monday, we noted that the police have arrested a man accused of tagging Wallingford and many other neighborhoods with a spraypainted "Zeb". We've always had a bit of short-fuse for tagging, a form of graffiti in which the practitioner spraypaints or marks his name over huge numbers of pieces of private property. The most infuriating aspect of tagging is that city law requires the property owner to bear the cost of the removal of the mark and will fine the owner…

Wallingford Art Walk

Last month, we found Wallingford Art Walk to be something of a disappointment. We were not alone. Not to say there weren't some fine artists on display, good music to be had and the requisite nibbles and wine, but what was disappointing was the number of businesses that had signed up, but failed to actually book an artist and participate. Wallingford Wednesday – 90°

Lots going on in Wallingford this Wednesday, so make yourself comfortable: First off, the weather report says it's supposed to get up to 90° F. That's nine-zero frickin' degrees! In Seattle! We're not going to list what all is ripe and in season this week because everything is ripe and in…

Octopus Pie

Octopus Pie. Oh, we haven't liked a title of one of our posts this much since Inseminating the Elephant. What gives us the right, nay, the honor of entitling a post, "Octopus Pie"? None of other than the visit to Comics Dungeon (250 N. 45th St) of the creator of the Octopus Pie comic strip, Meredith Gran. She'll be kicking off her tour and celebrating the release of the first Octopus Pie collection, "Octopus Pie: THere are No Stars in Brooklyn"…
