Field Recording Workshop for Youth 8-13

Wallingford’s Hollow Earth Radio and The Fremont Abbey Arts Center are teaming up to present a free field recording workshop for kids Saturday, January 23rd from 11am - 4pm. Youth, ages 8-13, will spend the day learning how to capture the sounds that are all around us.  They'll be able to try different microphones and recording devices, and explore the sounds of Fremont. Cutz Meridian salon (4515 Meridian Ave N)will be hosting an artist reception for Kathy Liao this Saturday, January 9th from 7 - 10 pm. Taiwanese-American artist Liao draws inspiration from her diverse Hakka Chinese and Japanese ancestries as she seeks to bring awareness to the Asian stereotypes that color her life experiences. Her works are often shaped by the dichotomy between Asian and American culture that she experienced throughout her formative years.

Art and Olives

We found a few interesting sales going on in homes around the neighborhood this weekend. The sun shining so warmly, it's well worth the walk to stroll over. At her home on 4033 Eastern Ave N, Rena is selling her home cured olives and spices. The olives themselves are brought fresh in a barrel from Israel.
