Stella Photo

Thanks to everyone for their support and eyes-out looking for Stella, the pooch dognapped from the Durn Good Grocery on Wednesday. Still no word on Stella's return, but Jasmine sent in this picture she happened to snap of the little girl earlier this week. Keep your eyes peeled! And, at the risk of becoming a "lost and found pets" site, we'll post this photo and note from Jeramy: My cat escaped from the area of 1st and 44th (By Dick’s Drive-In…

Durn Good dog taken

Jai Wiliamson, owner of the Durn Good Grocery (4002 Wallingford Avenue North) tells us his dog, Stella, is gone. The Rat Terrier was last seen immediately outside of the store, on the sidewalk at about 12:40pm this afternoon. Williamson was inside fixing a freezer when he saw Stella go outside. Moments later, when he went to check on her, he couldn't find her. The owner of Ramona Cleaners across the street was pointing and yelling over to him, but Williamson couldn't…

It’s garden repair season

I have a small backyard that gets a couple hours of good sun a day. In the rainy season our dog completely destroyed what little grass existed when we moved in last summer. We are interested in planting grass and don't know where to start. The yard is mostly mud now. Please let me know any tips and when we should start. ---Heather Heather, Your observations illustrate several things going on that contributed to the loss of your lawn: grass needs…

Tomorrow: Pets to the Max!

My Green Lake tells us that the Seattle Humane Soctiety's MaxMobile will be in Tangletown tomorrow for on-the-spot adoption of cats, dogs, and perhaps a bunny or two.  The 33' distinctively-yellow MaxMobile will be parked (now there's a challenge) in front of Mighty-O Donuts (2110 North 55th St.), from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Here's your chance to adopt that pet you've always wanted.  All that, and a bag of donuts, I'd say makes for the perfect Sunday! Thanks for the…

Missing a Kitty?

Reader Janine sent us the following note: This calico cat has been living on our porch at 43rd and Woodlawn for most of the last two weeks. It’s desperate to come inside and be part of our family, but we are unable to accommodate it. The cat appears to be well fed, though we have never fed it. If this is your cat or if you know anything about it, we would appreciate hearing from you at 206 790 7360 or…

Wherefore art thou, Fifi?

Wallyreader Jessica wrote us on Thursday night to tell us that her dog was stolen--right off her front porch! O.k., she’s not a real dog, but she’s a slightly larger than life-sized ceramic boxer who’s been sitting on my porch since 2003.  Someone made off with her a few months back, but dropped her a couple blocks away, and some friends of Molly Moon brought her back to me.  This afternoon, I noticed she was gone. If you see Fifi, drop…
