Does Your Dog Need Training…Or Perhaps You Do?

On a typical evening I’m found dealing with the constant hustle and bustle of the week, hurrying to get dinner served, and my son off to bed, while mentally preparing myself for the couple of hours I get to absorb on my own.  However, last Monday night I was allowed into what appeared to be a secret society of dogs and their owners, right here in Wallingford at 4015 Stone Way North. Susan Oshie, the owner of Paws 4 Training was…

Wallingford Weekend

Labor Day Weekend is upon us, marking the end of outdoor festivals, movies, and block parties. It’s a time when we honor thy mighty Bumbershoot and prep the outdoor grill for that last barbecue. While many plan to get the heck out of Dodge for that last long weekend until…Thanksgiving (Ugh, really? Is the next one that far away?), we’ve got some suggestions for those who plan to stick around: Thursday, 9/2 (Still a weeknight, but worth mentioning): 8 PM –…

Wallingford is Doggone Friendly

Wallyreader Yolanda writes: It would be great if you could do a spot on dog-friendly Wallingford. Especially with the summer heat a lot of people are out with their dogs, many stores offer air conditioning, a safe space outside of the hot and dangerous car plus treats and water. So, on one of our few warm and sunny days, I leashed up Wallyhood Rover Reporter, Scout, and set out to do a recon mission to see just how many stores in Wallingford are…

Cat with the Golden Fang

As Rudyard Kipling famously wrote, "Run and find out" is the motto of the mongoose.  Once you get to know an animal well enough, you'll discover its own personal creed. Long-time Wallingford resident Rita Amer has published a delightful new children's book, The Cat with the Golden Fang, whose heroine is an exquisite cat named Marta Petunia. Rita first had the inspiration for The Cat with the Golden Fang in the mid-80's, then moved to Seattle in 1989.  Almost all of it…

Wallingford Flex Cat Found

  • Post author:
  • Post category:CatsPets

It has been a long ten days, but thankfully, it has only been ten since the Wallingford Flex Cat went missing. Today an alert neighbor down in the lower hood heard some meowing coming from a construction site on Sunnyside; a home just a few doors away from Bodhi's is in the final stages of a remodel. The hood's beloved feline must have wandered in when someone was there to share his wealth of love and then gotten accidentally locked inside.…

Mutt Mitts!

For those who read my previous "Notes From the Playground" posts, you might remember the story of a toddler's poop-smeared ride down the slide that got a discussion going about needing a Mutt Mitt dispenser at Wallingford Park. Well, the mitts are in, or at least the dispenser is. You can find it at Northwest corner of the park, at 43rd and Woodlawn. But perhaps more frequent refills are in need? I've checked the dispenser a few times over the past couple of weeks…
