Missing or seeking kittens?

This came to us today via "Seattle Meridian": At 10:30 am this morning, my kids and I saw four kittens at the Meridian playground (west middle entrance).  If someone is missing them, they are there.  Although, I'm guessing someone dumped the kittens as they were shivering and looked confused.  So, if anyone wants kittens, there are two gray kittens and two whitish kittens.  All were friendly and wanted lots of pets!

Elemental is closing

Shalini over at Eater Seattle tells us that Elemental and Elemental Next Door (3309 Wallingford Avenue North) will close on June 21. Co-owner Laurie Riedeman told Eater that their lease is up and that "she and her business partner (Phred Westfall) have decided to explore new challenges." I've never been to Elemental, but Jordan and his wife ventured down there in January, and wrote about the experience. Worth the read if you're considering dining there before it closes. Thanks for the tip,…

Did you witness a collision on Sunnyside?

Ashley at the Erotic Bakery wrote to let us know about a car collision that happened on Sunnyside on Tuesday (4/17) evening. Apparently one of the vehicles in the collision left the scene. If you witnessed the collision, please call 911, or you can email Ashley at [email protected]. Here's what she wrote: At 7:03pm my co-worker and I heard a series of crunches, crashes, glass shattering, and tires screeching. We work at the Erotic Bakery. Ran out the back door in…

Vertical Gardening at 38th and Burke

Maybe it's the efficiency of it: a garden not limited by the footprint of the space, but dashing upwards, embezzling efficiency from the third dimension. Maybe it's just the idea that walls can be dynamic and alive. Whatever it is, we've always had a soft spot for vertical gardens and green walls. So maybe we're late to the party on this one, but it was a delight to see this grand wonder spreading and blossoming at the corner of 38th and…

Be a Tree Ambassador for a day

Seattle reLeaf program and Tree Ambassador Jana Dilley is coming to Wallingford next week to tend to some young residential trees. She's looking for a few volunteers who have some free time and would like to help out (it's Spring Break for Seattle Schools. Bring the kiddies! They'll love it!) It's during regular workday hours next Thursday, April 19, from 10:00AM - 12:00PM, but the neat thing is that Seattle Channel will be on the scene to cover the Tree Ambassador…

Overnight fire in Tangletown

Two adults and three children are safe after their house caught fire early this morning in Tangletown (5615 Kirkwood Pl. N). Our good neighbor to the north, My Green Lake, has the story, as does King 5 and Q13. According to the reports, a grandmother helped her son and young children out of the house safely. Investigators believe it is likely that the fire started in a bedroom, due to overheated wires. We're glad everyone is safe.
