B.F. Day Art Teacher Awarded Regional Teacher of the Year

B.F. Day Elementary School art teacher, Julie Trout, was recently named Regional Teacher of the Year by the Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD). According to the PSESD website, "the Teacher of the Year program is part of a nationwide initiative to honor and recognize exceptional educators. Each ESD selects one regional teacher of the year from the school districts within their region." Wally Pets to change ownership

We heard through the Wallyvine that Wally Pets (4411 Wallingford Ave N.) is about to change hands. So, I dropped in and spoke to the soon-to-be new owner who verified this little tidbit, and he says the change will occur officially on August 1. Mosaic for the world

Mosaic artist Laurel True has traveled the world to provide impoverished communities with mosaic art, fostering not only beautification, but arts education, and empowerment to people for community collaboration. True will be at Seattle Mosaic Arts (1325 N. 46th St.) for a workshop that discusses facilitating community mosaic projects.
