Community Kitchen: Chocolate in Unexpected Ways

Unless you are Margaret, who is completely satisfied with a Whitman's sampler from Bartell's (sic), you might just want to check out  Sustainable Wallingford's Community Kitchen on Friday, 2/18. Why?  Cuz it's about chocolate.  "Chocolate in Unexpected Ways," to be exact.  Here's what they mean by that: Chocolate crostini with sea salt A mixed green salad with a chocolate vinaigrette Pasta with sage & chocolate Vegetarian chocolate chili chicken enchiladas with mole To participate, pre-order your $9.99 tickets here, or pay…

Fallen fir on 46th

Brian London and Justin Ivy wrote to tell us that half of a large Douglas Fir fell earlier today at 46th and Eastern, due to the high winds.  The fallen tree is blocking 46th, so folks, be careful driving around there! Update from Brian at 4:51: Someone cut part of the tree away and SDOT came out and cordoned off the sidewalk but they left the rest, presumably because they need more equipment to safely remove the heavier, higher up portion.

Saturday Valentines At The Zoo

As we told you recently, NBC’s The Voice is planning on going head-to-head with FOX‘s American Idol. Word is The Voice will include several twists…

Stoneway Village Construction Update

It's only been a few weeks since we reported the good news about our neighborhood's beloved festering pit being transformed into Stoneway Village; but folks close by have already witnessed some action down there and, by gosh, it's a beautiful thing.  Reader Denny sent us a few pictures, including the one featured on the right here, and added in e-mail that "the work appears pretty modest but it's becoming an active construction site. At this point it's just moving dirt around."…
