Wallingford’s “Waterfront” Homes

Wallingford has some really amazing Lake Union waterfronts. Gas Works Park is the obvious example, but the recent completion of Waterway 18 is a perfect representation of the natural beauty along the Wallingford shores of Lake Union.  Many find themselves wanting to be nearer to the waters of Lake Union, but Wallingford might not be the first obvious choice.  Most people typically think of houseboats along the shores of Eastlake, Westlake, and Portage Bay, and are surprised to learn that Wallingford…

Stoneway Village Construction Update

It's only been a few weeks since we reported the good news about our neighborhood's beloved festering pit being transformed into Stoneway Village; but folks close by have already witnessed some action down there and, by gosh, it's a beautiful thing.  Reader Denny sent us a few pictures, including the one featured on the right here, and added in e-mail that "the work appears pretty modest but it's becoming an active construction site. At this point it's just moving dirt around."…

Coastal Kitchen

No, sorry folks, Coastal Kitchen isn't opening a Wallingford branch in the abandoned Winchell's or the Chow Foods spot across from the Guild. Instead, as you may know, Wallyhood has a partnership with the super-active Green Lake Moms to offer special deals from local (and some not-so-local) businesses, and today's deal is a good one: $25 for $50 worth of food at Coastal Kitchen on Capitol Hill. We've had many a fine meal there. Now maybe you will too.

What in the Wallingford?

Yes, it's time again for our weekly contest (cue the theme music), What in the Wallingford? in which you, the reader, guess what and where a photo was taken. The only clue we'll give: it's in Wallingford! Last week's puzzle was a bit too easy, with the first correct answer coming a mere six minutes after the contest was posted. Hopefully, this one will take a bit longer. We only ask that if you were involved in the creation or placement…

Love Thy Neighbors

This Saturday, February 12th, is Neighbor Appreciation Day: February 12, 2011 will mark Seattle's 17th annual celebration of Neighbor Appreciation Day. It's the day when we reach out, create new bonds, and express thanks to those who live or work around us. The celebration began in 1995 when Phinney Ridge activist Judith Wood suggested that the City designate "a special day to celebrate the goodness in those around us and to reach out and strengthen our bonds to each other." Mayor…
