Clothing and Gift Exchange

We can't believe this. We told you about the Bizarre Bazaar. We told you about Art Walk. We told you about not one, but two artist sales. And still, you say to us "I don't know what to give for the holidays"? OK, we will help, but this is the last time! OmCulture (2210 N. Pacific) is holding a Clothing and Gift Exchange this Sunday, Dec 5th 11 am - 5 pm: Beat the blues this winter with a fun gift…

New store to open at former Meridian Market site

Wallyhood reader David snapped this picture for us yesterday, showing the new brown paper covering the windows of the space formerly occupied by Meridian Market (2201 N 56th St).  "I'm hoping this means something new is in the works," David wrote. Indeed, it does!  Looks like the space will soon have a new tenant.  EveryBlock Seattle shows a new liquor license application for a grocery store, called the 56th Street Market, to sell beer and wine. Thanks for the tip, David!

Tonight: Wine World’s Grand Opening Party

Hamilton 6th grader struck by car

Yesterday at about 7:45 a.m., a 6th grade student from Hamilton was struck by a car while she was in the crosswalk at 43rd and Wallingford Avenue North.  A Hamilton parent wrote in our Forums that the student sustained hip and thigh injuries, but that the school informed the students yesterday that she will be o.k., which we're very glad to hear. Stay safe, folks!  It's dark and dreary this time of year.

Santa and the Big Roundup

As you summon your holiday shopping derring-do, prepared to face the battle of the crowds, you might want to consider making a stop at J.C. Penney up in Northgate.  Way out of the neighborhood, I know--but here's why:  Any purchases you make at the store between now and December 14, J.C. Penney will round up to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club.  The spare change adds up, too, as WBGC board member Jacqui…
